Describe purpose of position:

APLL will provide a Senior Coordinator Logistics / Rail Equipment Maintenance Resource, responsible for overseeing and providing proactive notification of Railcars that are in need of repairs (shopped), communicating to the appropriate N&B business and site locations. Tracking and monitoring time spent in the shop for repairs, and alerting the N&B business segment when Railcar is expected to be released from the repair shop. APLL will provide one (1) full-time (FTE) resource to accomplish the functions defined in the Scope of Services to handle the daily activities including; participation in rail incidents, tracking rail service providers performance, complaint resolution, and working with the Rail Service Coordinator advising which railcars need to be shopped and by when. This position(s) will be located in Wilmington, DE.

  • The Rail Equipment Maintenance Resource is responsible for overseeing and providing proactive notification of Railcars that are in need of repairs (shopped), communicating to the appropriate business and sites, and working in a regionally aligned team environment.  Duties include tracking Rail Service provider’s service performance, involved in the complaint process and resolution of rail complaints, and escalation of problems to railroads for immediate action / resolution.


Key job tasks of the Rail Equipment Maintenance resource include:

  • Support Nutrition & Biosciences ship points, and related business centers in matters that relate to rail fleet utilization, customer service standards, all activities related to safe, efficient movement of railcars.
  • Active participant in all rail incident investigations.
  • Tracks Rail Service provider’s service performance.
  • Involvement in the complaint process and resolution of rail complaints
  • Escalation of problems to railroad for immediate action / resolution
  • Identifies and captures savings opportunities as rail transportation for entry into E-Sourcing
  • Represents Nutrition & Biosciences Rail Team in meetings with carriers and clients, clearly articulates issues impacting clients’ business and identifies root cause and corrective action
  • Develop Internal processes and procedures
    • Develop Desk Manuals & DPM’s outlining roles, responsibilities and procedures.
    • Conduct periodic reviews.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager


In addition the Rail Equipment Maintenance Resource will work with the Rail Services Coordinator alerting and advising when and which railcars need to be placed in the shop for repairs.  






  • B.S. degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or equivalent work experience.
  • Transportation experience with Bulk Truck mode desired.
  • Understanding of Transportation Operations, and relationships to costs.
  • Understanding Transportation and Management systems and databases.
  • Exposure to carrier price structure, contract performance metrics desired
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
