Overview:

This position administers the FTZ (Foreign Trade Zone) operations.  This includes people dedicated to the FTZ team as well as other dotted line employees that just do FTZ part time.  The operational work includes:

  • Complying with SOP’s
  • Completing the daily entries on time
  • Working with the in-house Manhattan WMS, Integration Point, customer’s ERP system to balance inventories
  • Making sure all reports are run and provided

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Set up operations procedures for FTZ
  • Assist team in accomplishing daily work
  • Improve processes to drive productivity
  • Provide staff training and development
  • Ensure all FTZ reports are completed on time and accurately
  • Work with the Inventory and Operations teams to drive accuracy and CBP compliance

Key Functions needed for the position:

SOP/Training

The admin will assist in development of SOP’s to ensure proper awareness of FTZ matters on inventory transactions and how warehouse processes impact customs reporting and compliance, oen the admin will be involved in training new staff that have inventory responsibilities

New products set up

The admin will ensure new products or SKU’s are properly set up in the data base, this can involve classification (HTS), this person does not necessarily need the expertise to classify the goods, but is usually the liaison between the broker and the individual that understand the parts (have the drawings, etc) to make sure that it gets done.

Daily work

  • Check error logs in IP for any transactions that could not process in IP, determine the root cause and resolve and resubmit transactions (this is often resulting from new parts not being set up), or a mapping issue for an unusual transaction type from the MRP system
  • Check the inventory reconciliation and investigate differences
  • Preparation of 7512 for export shipments

Weekly work

  • Generation of the weekly estimate for customs
  • Review of the weekly entry and filing of same

Annual work

  • Prepare and submit 216 annual permit to customs
  • Prepare inventory control and recon letter for CBP
  • Prepare annual system review letter
  • Prepare annual inventory movement report for the FTZ board (this would likely be primarily a review of the information generated by IP and filing the report in OFIS

AD HOC

  • Respond to requests for information from CBP and relay to appropriate team members depending on nature of request
  • Host and accompany CBP for annual site inspection and generating information related to that spot check
