Description

The Business Application Specialists (BAS) reports into the Technology Solutions team.   They will be responsible for supporting below activities related to International Logistics services customer facing applications housed under Logistics SuperSuite +. 

 These customer facing activities include (but not limited to):

•     Pre-Sales Support – RFI/RFP Preparation, Presentation Preparation, Solution Strategy etc.

•     Sales Support – Application Demonstrations to customers as part of the sales process.

•     Post Sales Support – Requirements writing (Commitment doc, SOW, BRD etc.)

•     Implementation Support – Identifying and validating IT business solutions to meet customers’ implementation requirements.  Collaborate with IT, Customer Support and Operations.  Assist in setup and training.

     Post Implementation Support – Create and review RFS requests, Bug Requests, upgrades and provide new training as needed.

•     Participates and presents at Customer User Group Meetings

•     Participates in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and provides feedback on application releases and roll-outs.

•     EDI Trading Partner event setup (i.e. 315, 214)

 

The Business Application Specialist (BAS) will serve as the “Go To” person related to the above customer facing application needs for the assigned region.  The BAS will represent the application team in local meetings both internal and external.  The BAS will represent application and system needs to the Application Suite Owner (ASO) and IT teams.

The Business Application Specialist (BAS) ensures consistency across geographies.  To this end, the BAS will participate in BAS “team” calls and training to ensure that they are in synch with the methods, process and best practices in use by the other regions.  The BAS will have an expert knowledge of Application processes related to change control, enhancement and releases and provide inputs to IT that follow the agreed upon processes and are aligned and prioritized together with the other regions.

The BAS is an asset to the ASO in that they will support the Application roadmap and deliverables with local training and rollout.  Additionally, the BAS will represent the needs of their region to the ASO team and ensure that application roadmaps and objectives are aligned with the overall business objectives of their region.

Key Results:

  • Business Application Specialist is a customer facing role.  The Business Application Specialist will work with the sales team and development team to describe APLL applications and solutions during the sales process in an effort to help win new business.
  • The Business Application Specialist is responsible as a Subject Matter Expert to the implementation and adoption process.  The BAS will ensure Best Practices and consistency across geographies.  The BAS will ensure the implementation follows agreed upon processes.  BAS will work to set attainable expectations by an awareness of the current work-load and application queues.  BAS will perform application Administration tasks and customer training as needed.
  • The Business Application Specialist is responsible to ensure that customers in the assigned region are adopting the applications and utilizing the applications.  BAS will manage enhancement requests, bug reports and new feature roll-outs.  BAS will host local user group meeting or participate with the region in a larger user group meeting.

  1. Implementation Support – Identifying and validating IT business solutions to meet customers’ implementation requirements.  Collaborate with IT, Customer Support and Operations.  Assist in setup and training.

  1. Participate in customer sales meetings to present APLL Customer Facing Applications, provide additional training and identify technology solutions.

  1. Identify new application enhancements and roll out to the region.  Develop requirements documentation (i.e. Commitment Doc, BRD, SOW).  Assist the development teams in defining business use cases.

    1. Production Support – Maintain Application Specialist Helpdesk.  Review and evaluate application issues from both internal and external customers.  Write and submit enhancement and/or bug requests as needed.  Serve as a SME to the ASO for their assigned region/customers requirements and needed.

    1. Application Support – Assist application owners in prioritization of enhancements and bugs.  Attend weekly calls with Application Owners and Development Teams to validate application enhancements and perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

    1. Training – Conduct monthly training sessions to share Application knowledge within the team and our internal / external customers.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Holder of University Degree in Computer Studies or Logistics Management or related discipline.
  • Preferably 3 to 5 years of well-rounded IT and logistics operations experience. 
  • Demonstrated experience in assuming overall responsibility for specific IT applications supporting logistics operations. Experience in APL Logistics’ business applications is definitely advantage.
  • Solid knowledge of logistics operations and corresponding IT applications.
  • Good command of English. Additional Spanish capability will be an advantage.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
