Description

This position is responsible for managing WMS applications, architect and design WMS solutions, collaborate across different functional teams to support APL Logistics’ CLS business, and coordinate with internal and outsourced resources for analysis, development, testing, implementation and hyper-care support of APLL’s customer implementations. This includes providing end-to-end IT Project Implementation Management to onboard customers on the offered proprietary and packaged WMS applications, producing and/or reviewing business requirements, estimation of effort and cost in the prioritization and sales support process.

The position requires a broad spectrum of knowledge in WMS as well as comprehension of Supply Chain Management business. This position also requires strong hands-on experience in implementing comprehensive WMS solutions for customers in various industries from project award until hyper-care. This is needed in order to review estimates for enhancements/projects, prepare SIT test results, and lead UAT and User Training. A strong understanding of WMS applications, IBMi (AS/400) and a general understanding of client server and open systems architecture is mandatory. This includes developing functional and design specifications, as well as providing detailed timelines after review. In addition, this role should offer SME opinion to AMS Service Provider on impact analysis, design, process, modelling and implementation of projects and enhancement.

The candidate must be a proficient communicator with ability to write concisely and speak effectively to both internal and external teams spanning across multiple geographical locations.

Last but not least, the candidate ought to possess a “can-do”, high energy spirit with an ability to provide innovative solutions to any challenges that may arise from issues/problems in the WMS area.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/JOB DUTIES

% OF TIME

  • Provide end to end IT Project Implementation Management to onboard customers on the offered WMS applications
  • Produce and/or Review Business Requirements
  • Provide high level estimates for the analysis, design, development, testing, implementation effort in the prioritization & sales support process
  • Develop and/or review functional and technical specifications
  • Develop algorithms for custom software modules to address technical requirements
  • Produce and/or review design specifications
  • Perform database modeling, design of screen user interfaces and customized reports to satisfy requirements
  • Design and develop system interfaces between applications using standard communication protocols to enable data integration 
  • Technical configuration of all software modules of the WMS
  • Perform database tuning of SQL queries for optimized performance
  • Troubleshoot systems/applications to resolve production issues on a need basis
  • Provide detailed estimates for the analysis, design, development, testing, implementation effort after functional/design specifications review
  • Offer SME opinion to AMS Service Provider on impact analysis, design, process, modelling and implementation of projects & enhancement Review and/or approve estimates for enhancements/projects

  • Render production support for Sev1 and Sev2 or other escalated issues
  • Provide Level 3 application production support including hands on troubleshooting as and when needed

  • Provide WMS solution options, including tools / software evaluation

Qualifications

 

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, other Engineering or related discipline or equivalent work experience, is required.

Experiences

  • More than 11 years of working experience in IT, out of which about 6 years of experience in supporting time-critical WMS applications
  • Proven track record in managing complex WMi and other WMS IT implementation projects, system configuration and customizations to suit project needs
  • Interactions with business users and internal IT team working together collectively to deliver results
  • Onsite support for Warehouse startup
  • Experience with APL logistics and their proprietary WMS Applications and LogFire WMS is a plus

Skill Sets

  • Strong knowledge of Manhattan’s WM for iSeries (PkMS)
  • Strong knowledge of RPG, AS/400, DB2 and SQL
  • WMS system design and deployment
